Violinist David Kim was named Concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1999. Born in Carbondale, Illinois in 1963, he started playing the violin at the age of three, began studies with the famed pedagogue Dorothy DeLay at the age of eight, and later received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Juilliard School.
Highlights of Mr. Kim’s 2019-20 season include appearing as soloist with The Philadelphia Orchestra; teaching/performance residencies and masterclasses at The University of Texas at Austin, Manhattan School of Music, Bob Jones University, the Taipei (Taiwan) Academy and Festival, The Aspen Music Festival, and continued appearances as concertmaster of the All-Star Orchestra on PBS stations across the USA and online at the Kahn Academy; as well as recitals, speaking engagements, and appearances with orchestras across the United States.

Kevin Lawrence’s own depth of musical conviction, his rich experience with several important figures in the history of violin playing, along with continuing engagement with prominent performers and teachers—both as director of Green Mountain and through ongoing international contacts—gives him an unusually broad perspective on how a student may attain success as a violinist. Ulrich Eichenauer is active as a soloist and chamber musician at major concert venues and festivals in the United States, Western Europe, Asia and South America. For five years he was principal violist with the Dresden (Germany) Philharmonic Orchestra, touring Europe, North and South America and Japan. He performed with the Mendelssohn String Quartet for six years, touring extensively in the U.S. and Europe. Link to UNCSA faculty page

Amadi Azikiwe, violist, violinist and conductor, has been heard in recital in major cities throughout the United States, such as New York, Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Houston, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C., including an appearance at the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Azikiwe has also been a guest of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center at the Alice Tully Hall in New York, and at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. He has appeared in recital at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, the “Discovery” recital series in La Jolla, the International Viola Congress, and at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Since then, he has performed throughout Israel, Canada, South America, Central America, Switzerland, India, Japan, Nigeria, Hong Kong, and throughout the Caribbean.
